Need a lift? New procedure takes off years with little down time

Traditional face-lifts come with risks and weeks of down time.
The Simple Lift gives similar results but is less invasive, said Carol Voigt, a consultant with Arizona Skin & Laser. The 90-minute outpatient surgery uses less cutting and cauterization, and is done with local anesthetic.
“It takes care of the lower face – the cheeks, the jowls and the neck,” she said. “The results are very long-lasting.”
The procedure uses “SMAS” (superficial musculo-aponeurotic system), which tightens the connective tissue layer below the skin.
The Simple Lift is designed for men and women ages 40 and up, though it has been done on younger people who have had dramatic weight loss, Voigt said. It makes patients look five to 15 years younger, with more dramatic results for older patients.
But it doesn’t give that “wind-tunnel” look of extreme traditional face-lifts, she said.
“It’s not pulled back; it’s very natural-looking,” Voigt said.
Patients are back to work quickly.
“Even at 65, they want to be out golfing and back into the real world within a week,” she added.
Consultations are free, and clients will see before-and-after pictures of other patients and get to check references.
The results last about eight-to-15 years, Voigt said, depending on lifestyle, skin type, sun exposure and bone structure.
